Remember the Gerhard Richter paintings of the German terrorist group we were talking about? A new film on the group is at Burns Court this week. It got rave reviews:

The Baader Meinhof Complex

Also another great classic film there this week ROSHOMON by Akira Kurosawa.

Quotes by E. O. Wilson, American biologist, theorist, naturalist, and author:

If all mankind were to disappear, the world would regenerate back to the rich state of equilibrium that existed ten thousand years ago. If insects were to vanish, the environment would collapse into chaos.

Destroying rainforest for economic gain is like burning a Renaissance painting to cook a meal.

If those committed to the quest fail, they will be forgiven. When lost, they will find another way. The moral imperative of humanism is the endeavor alone, whether successful or not, provided the effort is honorable and failure memorable.

Nature holds the key to our aesthetic, intellectual, cognitive and even spiritual satisfaction.

You are capable of more than you know. Choose a goal that seems right for you and strive to be the best, however hard the path. Aim high. Behave honorably. Prepare to be alone at times, and to endure failure. Persist! The world needs all you can give.

WELCOME SENIOR ARTISTS 2010 TO YOUR THESIS BLOG

Welcome Senior Ringling Artists to your FA Thesis Blog:

This blog will become a tool both in and out of Thesis class. We will add content, live, during class, as we explore various topics during our 'Gumbo Sessions' and during our Professional Practices discussions and exercises. Assignments and due dates, links, announcement, etc. will be posted here regularly.

Ringling FA Class of '10 blog will produce for us an archive of our content throughout the year. And a place for you to contribute to that content. You are encouraged to add articles, links, announcements, breakthroughs, discoveries, etc.

Blog-Jocky's needed! We need two alternating volunteers to be at the internet keyboard during class discussions to pull up images and content on the big screen pertinent to our conversation. And to post the crucial links to this blog.

YOU MUST BECOME A 'FOLLOWER' OF THIS BLOG IMMEDIATELY.

See you in class tomorrow with your papers on your summer reading.
Looking forward to an amazing senior year with you guys.
